Mourinho to wait before Chelsea star can join United

Chelsea have agreed a fee with Monaco for Bakayoko and the defensive midfielder is expected to take his Blues medical on Friday.

The ire isn't so much related to the "loss" of Lukaku to a rival club but more so driven by the sense that once again Chelsea's board are perceived as negligent in their duty to secure the right deal for the club when selling players.

Do you think Mourinho will go after Matic in the coming weeks?

Jose Mourinho is waiting to hear if Chelsea will sell them Nemanja Matic this summer.

The towering midfielder joins Diego Costa in opting not to travel with speculation that the forward is in talks with Atletico Madrid.

Conte would prefer to sell Matic abroad if he could but few can match the salary and length of contract that United can offer the Serbia midfielder.

While some reports suggest the midfielder is training individually because he is carrying an injury, others claim that he is on the brink of leaving Stamford Bridge. £20 million was the cash adjustment paid to Benfica for Luiz in January 2011, Matic was clearly just an afterthought.

The Daily Mail say the Red Devils are now waiting for a definitive answer on Matic.

Mourinho knows he needs a new face in midfield and is also a known admirer of Roma's Radja Nainggolan. The 23-year-old spent last season at Chelsea's west London neighbours and will return to Craven Cottage this term. It's a nice number, and I asked the permission of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Chelsea open the defence of their Premier League crown at home against Burnley on August 12. It's not good for Conte, it's not good for Blues supporters and it's not good for the club.

With hindsight things could have been a lot less problematic at the Bridge, the venue of the greatest soap opera in football.
